YijingBrakes tells you that the scorching process for brake pads is very important

Yijing brake pads manufacturing process - scorching

What is the high-temperature scorching process?

One of the main ingredients of a brake pad is resin material that acts as a matrix in the friction material. In the production process, the mixture of ingredients goes through pressure and temperature to increase the strength and integrity of the brake pad. However, baking process produces gases reducing the fade resistance of brake pads. The scorching process gets some millimeters of friction material surface porous resulting in slightly weakening the integrity of the components and as a result, friction materials can easily be contacted with the brake disc in the first braking condition. This means that the pads and discs need less time to get matched to each other. Having done scorching process, some properties such as hardness reduce, coefficient of friction whereas wear rate increase.

Why is it recommended to choose brake pads with scorching process?

during high-temperature scorching, the internal structure of the brake pads is optimized, and the anti-thermal attenuation performance is greatly improved. at the same time, this process makes the surface of the friction material 1-2mm close to carbonization (effectively shortening the running-in period), generates fine cracks and pores (will not affect driving safety), effectively discharges harmful gases and impurities inside the material, is not easy to gelatinize and adhesion during secondary ablation, and improves the thermal attenuation performance of the brake pads as a whole, ensuring that the car maintains stable braking performance in the braking environment of different temperatures and strengths such as sharp braking, heavy braking, and continuous braking. effectively shorten the braking distance and run-in period, and ensure driving safety with good braking force.

How to tell if the brake pads are from a high-temperature scorching process?

the high-temperature ablation process makes the surface of the friction material 1-2mm close to carbonization, resulting in fine cracks and porosity visible to the naked eye, so as long as the friction surface of the brake pad is observed whether there are cracks and porosity, it can be distinguished whether the brake pad is produced from the high-temperature ablation process.

Yijing has added a scorching process to all of its brake pads. This additional process forces any impurities out of the friction material and pre-burnishes the pads to greatly accelerate the brake-in process. This OEM process enhances key friction performance levels. Scorching raises initial cold effectiveness, stabilizes friction levels right out of the box, provides consistent performance across the entire operating range. During the scorching phase; each brake pad surface is super-heated to simulate the initial break-in process performed by installation technicians. This additional step removes any uncured bonding agents eliminating the need for initial break-in and reducing noise caused by pad glazing. Scorching thermally conditions the pad material which yields a more consistent and higher friction level right out of the box. Scorching benefits the vehicle owner by promoting a more complete bed-in of new pads, increasing the effective stopping power from the first stop.
